This is the recording Johnny Cash did live, performing for the inmates at San Quentin State Prison. The original LP did not feature the whole concert, rather just 10 songs. While the reissued cd included 18 songs.


In 2006, the Legacy Edition was released. This edition of the album is a 3-disc box, wich includes the whole concert, plus a DVD containing the documentary produced by Granada TV in 1969.

DISC 3:


The Last disc on this album is a DVD. It contains the original 1969 documentary that was produced by the british company Granada TV. It tells the story of Johnny Cash's concert within the walls of the maximum security prison.


The Dvd also features some footage of the actual concert, amongst other songs is "A Boy Named Sue".


Also on this last disc, multiple interviews with inmates and prison guards, talking about their experiences.
