"Everybody Loves A Nut" contains a collection of songs with a humouristic tone. -Wich is pretty unusual, coming from "the man in black". As Allmusic.com says, "The songs are just basically nutty".

"Dirty Old Egg Sucking Dog" was one of Cash's favourite songs, mostly because he sang this on, what has been described as "the highlight of his career", the Muppet Show.

Johnny Cash has over and over again proved that he can make great music when in a dark mood, but on this album he also shows us that he can use other sides of his personality. It's fun to see that he explores the lighter side of his personality.

Johnny's experimenting with humouristic, childish songs, made him very popular amongst children.

Jack Clement has written most of the songs on this album, and Jack Davis (a popular cartoonist) created the album's cover.
