"From Sea To Shining Sea" is a concept album. This time Johnny Cash distances himself from the traditional conceptalbums where he usualy sings about the Old West or other American Historical events.
Numerous songs have been written, describing places and events in the US, but Cash wanted to perform something he had experienced, things he had seen. That's why every single song on this album is written by Cash himself. As Cash says in the albums booklet: "I have written and arranged all of these songs and take full responsibility for any errors in the narratation."
