The Lure Of The Grand Canyon was one of the first concept albums in the history of country music (and Rock music for that matter..). The album consists of songs by Ferde Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite. The Suite has 5 parts (track 1 to 5), and is Grofé's best-known work.
The music was conducted by Andre Kostelanetz and it also includes authentic sounds recorded in the Grand Canyon.
On the sixth track on the album appears Johnny Cash as a narrator in a tale about "A Day In The Grand Canyon". The track describes a day spent visiting the world famous canyon.
