Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash
Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash

Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash (from now BSOJC) caught my attention when I saw their name came up on a country festival in Norway. The name made me look
them up. Their website is www.bsojc.com.
They have, since they came toghether in 1995, released three
albums. -One more aggresive than the other. Their name clearly
reflects what they intend to accomplish with their music; bring
the style introduced by Johnny Cash (among others) further.
They released their first album "Walk Alone" in early 2001. The
second album "Distance Between" arrieved in 2002, followed
by "Mile Markers" in 2005. In 2006 they also released the DVD
"Live at Muhle Hunzigen, Bern Switzerland".
When you listen to their music, you start to think in the lines of
Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings and Merle
Haggard. So I think that they have succeeded with their motive,
and advanced that music style.
Johnny Cash himself gave BSOJC permission to use his name.
It's reported that he actually went against what his own
organization recommended. BSOJC's Mark Stuart (Vocals) said
in an interview after a concert that he was very thankful for Johnny
Cash' support. "He's (Johnny Cash) been very supportive over the
years, and even helped us get a show at the House of Blues in
Los Angeles, wich really helped us get a lot of industry attention.
And that's just one more reason we'd really like to keep the name, and honor the man."
One thing I was worried about when I saw their name was if they honored the name in an orderly fashion. And they really do. They play
good music, in the same (only advanced) style
as Johnny Cash did. Thumbs up!
Check out their website and their MySpace, for
information and tour dates. And please support
them by bying their music, it's really worth it!
Their music can be found in record stores, at
their own website or at iTunes.
Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash can be highly
recommended by me, and I really look forward
to their concerts in Norway!
